"Abstracted Cube"
October 2014.
Wood, nails, spray paint. 24x24x24 inches. The objective of this project was to explore platonic solids, so I chose to experiment with the cube. I kept abstracting the sculpture's form until it developed its own identity.

"Connections"
November 2014.
Plywood, steel rods, plastic vinyls. 18x12x13 inches. The objective of this sculpture was to explore some form of physical connection. I ended up choosing steel rods that connect through holes in planks of plywood. I got my idea to use these materials from a photo of a chair I found online which used the same materials. I built the seat of the chair from the photo, but then added more components to abstract the seat and create a more complex, systematic form.
"Cigar Box Guitar"
December 2014.
Wood, cigar box, metal tuners, strings. 8x23x3 inches. My objective was to build an instrument. Cigar box, strings, and tuners are all found objects. The cigar box body was modified to fit the neck inside of it. Everything else is handcrafted. The neck was hand carved from a plank of wood using a bandsaw. Neck and metal frets are sanded down for comfortable playing.
